If you talk in Germany about successful German bands abroad, two names wil come up and most of the time just these two: Scorpions and Rammstein. But there are many bands between Flensburg in the North and Garmisch in the South that are known between Los Angeles, Tokio, Moscow and Rio. Just think of Accept, Kreator or Blind Guardian. The Germans have found their place in the internationl rock business and are in demand.
Blind Guardian are from Krefeld, a small city in the West at the Dutch border. From there they started their world career. A short while ago they released a Best-of album, a retrospective of 25 years. I talked to singer Hansi Kürsch about the history, music and future of the band:
