Experimental Music
I have been producing and hosting Radio Goethe since 1996. For over 24 years I'm searching for, listenig to, finding and loving new music. And of course my taste in music also changed over time. This might be because of age, but certainly it is also that I talked to musicians, who explain sometimes in detail, what music is for them.
Through long conversations with musicians like Hans-Joachim Irmler, founding member of Faust, or Alexander Hacke of the Einstürzenden Neubauten, my musical borders have moved. Music has become for me. I would define music today differently then back in 1996.
A couple of years ago, I started with a new radio show on a community radio station in San Jose, presenting electronic and experimental music. Sphere like songs, long constructing tracks, soundscapes and quirky, winding tunes that will sometimes challenge your listening experience. Through this show I have learned, that the experimental music scene in Germany is huge. And that musicians from all over the world are drawn to cities like Berlin, to create there their sound experiments.
This "Wunderbar Together" edition is about this music, with voices by Hüma Utku, Klaus Schulze, Oberlin and Hans-Joachim Irmler.
