Radio Goethe in Butare, Rwanda

It's not that often that one comes to a city and finds posters with ones own photo on storefronts. Butare, or Huye, as the south Rwandan city is called today, has a university. And I was invited in collaboration with the Goethe-Institute to talk about the German music scene and to DJ at night.

Everything went perfect, there was a huge interest in the German music and people danced until late at night to a colorful and sometimes "strange" mix. The biggest successes were "Allein Allein" and "Fiesta Mexiana" I need to say anything else! It all happened at the "Space Place", THE Underground club in Butare. It was a lot of fun, interesting and just great to be there.

The university also has its own radio station. And Radio Goethe will soon be broadcast as well in the South of Rwanda. So, there will be an alternative to American influenced Hip Hop on the Rwandan airwaves.
